That's about the extent of#what I know.
APPRAISER: So it was a very# generous gift on GUEST: It was good advertising, too,# because my aunt could really AP PRAISER: this is a fiesta#dress# from the 1950s and made in Santa## Fe.
We know#that because it's well documented.
Each piece has#a label inside with# the designer name of The reason it's called a fiesta# dress is because once a year,## there would be a big fiesta and it# would be the people of Spanish descent.# It was#primarily their holiday to celebrate and# they would have elaborate outfits like this.
and it,#it's an amazing amount of work,## because all of this#is rick rack which is# sewn to the bolero, the top of the blouse And as you said, there are#83# rows of rick rack in this skirt, which is just#amazing.
And imagine# how beautiful it would#be when## someone was dancing or partying under#the light.
And she was gorgeous and thin.
It's#in unbelievable condition.
It looks like# it was#never worn.
I GUEST: I know that#she wore this# to a huge Fourth of July party.
APPRAISER: And you have a wide elasticized# band at the waist...
GUEST: Yes.
APPRAISER: ...which matches the# fabric in the blouse and#in the skirt.
I would place a retail value on# this piece between $600 and $800.
GUEST: Nice.
Really#nice.
APPRAISER: Yeah,## especially considering it was gifted to#your aunt.
