He wore this watch, and it intrigued#me# just because of the moon phases.
When he passed, I inherited#it.
I took it into# a repair shop because part of it wasn't#working.
They indicated that it really wasn't worth#fixing# and that a new face had been put on#it.
My grandfather always liked# the Twist-O-Flex#and so he## always took the bracelet off.
I put# a Twist-O-Flex watchband on, and... APPRAISER: Very popular.
GUEST: Y APPRAISER: So who put this bracelet on?
GUEST: I did.
APPR GUEST: It's just APPRAISER: The case is made out of stainless## steel and this#particular model is a# self-winding APPRAISER: It's not waterproof.
Here we have the,## uh, phases of the moon down here.
Over here we# have the, uh, the calendar.
Days of the the month,#and this long hand# here was#showing the date.
I want to point out something on this watch here.
We have the Coronet or the#crown# for Rolex right# bottom of#the watch, we have the serial number.
GUEST: Yes.
which is where the band#attaches # APPRAISER: Or inside the case,## but not on the outside of the case.# And thes and almost all of them when you see these watch ## these models that's#the first thing to wear You told me the jewelry store said it wasn't## worth repairing.
What type of# value would you put GUEST: Well, I thought maybe uh might be worth a# couple#hundred dollars.
Maybe $300 at the most.
APPRAISER: Well, this#particular model was# really made approximately for three years.
GUEST: Oh, really?
APPRAISE It wasn't#very popular because Rolex# only made 1,000 pieces#total.
or the face of the watch has# been#refinished or repainted.
That greatly detracts#the value of the# watch.
The case of the watch is real very very sharp.
It's got very sharp edges#on# on the lugs.
As we showed on the back of it, the serial number, the Coronet is very strong# so it's#got a great case on it.
This watch## I think easily, today at auction, would be# $35,000 to $45,000 in#the condition it's in.
GUEST: That's a big surprise... well#that's great.
APPRAISER: I haven't seen a Rolex moon phase## in#the 10 years I've been# filming ANTIQUES ROADSHO so it was nice that you brought one in.#I've# been w You brought it in, so I appreciate that.
