My name is Heather Lynn.
I'm the owner operator, baker, bases lady.
Something like that.
I love to feed people.
It makes me really happy.
If you believe in what you're doing, and it fills your heart and soul, then you got to keep going for it.
We love food and music.
It's the best things in life, right?
With the pandemic coming along and shaken all of our world up, it virtually closed us down.
Income has certainly changed in the past few years dramatically.
People were amazing.
People definitely sent us contributions and we're super grateful for those because it definitely helped in that time period.
I feel lucky that this place seems to attract really wonderful people.
Still, ten years later, it's I can't believe it.
My relationship with my customers, I actually feel a bit closer to them because of the circumstances of COVID.
We all were looking for a way to to connect with someone because you weren't getting to connect with people on a daily basis anymore.
In part, we opened this cafe to give our band a home base.
We decided to try something new.
We created a drive in concert experience, super unusual, probably the only venue in the entire world that had the music separated by a major road.
It was almost like a tiny little four hour festival that you were coming to in the middle of a pandemic.
And it was just it was lovely.
We invested in The Love Wagon, which is our little food cart that we offered grilled cheese on my homemade classic white bread.
We called them the dank grilled cheese and then we did small little artisan pizzas.
I feel like that certainly saved many of our souls that were coming, just to have that one little bit of, you know, magic that was happening every Saturday.
It just was really, like a bright light in a dark time period of all of our lives, collectively, because none of us were alone.
We were all in the same boat.
I'm still really trying to navigate how I'm going to continue because my baking load has quadrupled over COVID.
So trying to figure out how to still be an independent musician to with the band, but also be the baker.
I'm thankful to be here in Stockbridge, Vermont.
I just want to thank my community for kicking it in in a time when I really needed our community to come together to support this little place and offering me an amazing amount of love and support.
Without all of them, it's very possible that we might have gone under.
For as long as I'm going to probably be able to bake bread, and croissants, and bagels, and play music, I foresee the Wild Fern just continuing on in that vein.
I feel like we're here to stay.
Im thankful that Im one little part of a great community and I hope that that continues into the future.
